Intensive Counter-Terrorism Operations — In the first half of 2026, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the Counter Terrorism Department conducted 2,004 intelligence-based operations, resulting in the arrest of 504 terrorists and the elimination of 182, including 14 high-value commanders.

Effective Prevention — Despite 294 terrorist attacks on police personnel and installations, security forces thwarted 161 planned attacks through improved intelligence, surveillance, and rapid response.

Technological Adaptation — Forces successfully countered evolving threats by neutralizing 341 drone strikes using advanced anti-drone technology, while strengthening coordination, intelligence networks, and proactive measures to dismantle terrorist infrastructure.

The Counter Terrorism Department and Police of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been challenged to take a more aggressive stance against terrorist networks in KP during the first half of 2026 (January to June) with a marked escalation of counter-terrorism operations. Given the current security climate, police and other security agencies conduct coordinated and intelligence-led operations to disrupt terrorist networks, neutralize their operational capacity, uncover facilitators, and safeguard and protect citizens. The security forces kept the terrorist elements under tight scrutiny, using proactive measures of intelligence gathering, threat assessment, surveillance, and timely action to prevent them from growing.
