Under sustained pressure from Pakistani intelligence-based operations, FAK increasingly relies on exaggerated and false claims of attacks (reportedly over half of its claims) as a form of psychological warfare and propaganda.
These narratives aim to project strength, maintain internal morale and recruitment, erode public confidence in security forces, and compete with other groups for relevance, often amplified through external social-media networks.
Effective countermeasures center on rapid verification, credible evidence, and consistent official communication to prevent propaganda from being mistaken for operational capacity.
Terrorist organizations don’t wage war just on the physical battlefield, but also in the information sphere. Exaggerated and false claims of attacks have become a means of making the organization look powerful, when in reality, it is not.
