He also backed SCO–Afghan security and economy talks, an SCO AI forum in Tashkent, a multilingual data corpus, and Khiva as host for an SCO cultures forum; the summit closed with the Bishkek Declaration and Charter updates.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev began a working visit to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on August 31, to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and the SCO Plus meeting. During the two-day visit, he held high-level talks with international leaders and put forward strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening regional connectivity, stability, and sustainable development.

On the first day, Mirziyoyev held bilateral talks with several international leaders on the sidelines of the summit. Meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, he highlighted the continued expansion of Uzbek-Chinese relations and proposed setting a new bilateral trade target of $30 billion in the coming years. The two sides also discussed technological cooperation, including electric vehicle production with BYD.

In his meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Mirziyoyev discussed strengthening cooperation with the UN and supported initiatives to reform the organization.
