Well, I'm finishing up this column after nearly having to do it from a hospital bed. Huh? Yes, I did a quick trip to Walmart at lunch last week, and one more step into a traffic lane in their parking lot, and I would have been nailed. Yes, the way that little quick lunch trip to Walmart turned out wasn't your ordinary trip.

I was just going to buy an ice cream desert for Vertis, and I'll be honest: it would have been my fault for stepping out in a traffic lane without looking. I can easily make a five or less items purchase and make it a round-trip in 30 minutes from my house, since El Dorado is a ten-minute town, but I usually don't shop during my lunch hour. However, I fix lunch for Vertis, and we were out of Vanilla Blue Bell Ice Cream... her favorite, First I had trouble self-checking when the Register wouldn't take my card...it was a Debit Card, and I had to get help, but then I was even more in a in a hurry to get back to Vertis, and I roared across the parking lot, pushing my basket which had my groceries. I tossed my purchases in the back seat of my car, hurried across the traffic lane pushing my basket, gave the basket a push into basket holding area, and........
