Yes, this oilman is throwing in the oil towel ... at least temporarily.

From college, where I more or less stumbled into majoring in geology, I credit the good Lord for guiding me into what has been a fulfilling career. Looking back, being an active working oilman as an oil and gas exploration geologist is such an attractive profession that I regret not being actively involved at the present time. But right now, the worldwide oil and gas industry is in turmoil. Although the price of crude oil has been high, it is volatile, and no one can accurately predict what the price of crude oil will be in the future. With the market that unstable, the investment needed to supply the world's demand for petroleum is not readily available, and for independent oilmen such as myself, that means investment money is nonexistent.

But yes, I still consider myself an oilman, and although I have worn different hats during my career, I will always consider myself an oilman who was versatile. As I look back on my career, it has always had the oil industry as its foundation. I spent my early years literally living in the shadow of an oil refinery where my dad worked for 27 years, and I worked........
