Last year, filming for The Applewood Mystery pilot took place at Stowmarket Recreation Ground, Thetford Grammar School and Westhorpe Village Hall, near Eye.

In September, filming finally wrapped up in the village, near Stowmarket, with the crew reportedly left "in tears" following the final cuts.

Now, a trailer has been released showing a first look at the world of Applewood, described as a cross between Harry Potter and Doctor Who.

(function (d, s, n) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; js = d.createElement(s); js.className = n; js.src = "//player.ex.co/player/9eb68dce-e5e3-40c3-a31b-12479fdb5350"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); js.setAttribute('programmatic', 'true'); js.onload = function () { const playerApi256481 = ExCoPlayer.connect('9eb68dce-e5e3-40c3-a31b-12479fdb5350'); playerApi256481.init({ "autoPlay": false, "mute": true, "showAds": true, "playbackMode": "play-in-view", "content": { "playFirst": [ { "title": "The Applewood Mystery Trailer", "src": "https://large-cdn.ex.co/transformations-account/production/4a3bc053-9182-43c6-a264-62b0fb218ea8/72fb415d-0365-4e5d-8c81-cbf8dcc10c2c/720p.mp4" } ], "playlistId": "649d6b165f10d8001259835d" }, "sticky": { "mode": "persistent", "closeButton": true, "pauseOnClose": true, "desktop": { "enabled": false, "position": "bottom-right" }, "mobile": { "enabled": false, "position": "upper-small" } } }); }; }(document, 'script', 'exco-player'));

Director and author of the show David Elmer says he is excited for everyone to see the show.

He said: "It’s been fantastic to finally release the teaser trailer and give people a glimpse of the world we’ve been building.

"We hope it leaves audiences wanting more.

"Over the past few months the production has continued to grow, with more than 40 cast and crew from both local and national locations now part of the Applewood family.

"Over the weekend we filmed new scenes, including the reveal of a mysterious character who plays a key role in the Applewood story. "The support from the community has been incredible, and we’re excited for people to see what comes next.

The 44-year-old director has been in negotiations with Channel 4 and Amazon Prime Video, but decided to film the pilot to "increase interest and give them the full package".

In November, billboard adverts for the show were also spotted in various towns and cities across the country.

This included Bristol's Wine Street, Manchester's Broadway Roundabout, Ipswich's Norwich Road, Derby's Normanton Road, Watford's St Albans Road, Cambridge's Milton Road, Lincoln's Bishops Road, London's Appold Street and Norwich's Bridge Street.

Mr Elmer was born in Stowmarket and entered the industry after being involved in a Big Brother episode as a guest, where he fell in love with production.

His cast was made up of a 28-strong core cast, a camera crew and the main production team.
