The tags, featuring the repeated word "woke", appeared on road signs, bus shelters, businesses, sports clubs, and street furniture across Bungay.

At its height, people described the problem as a "growing epidemic", with concerns it was damaging the town's appearance and creating additional costs for organisations forced to clean up the mess.
