Stock stolen from community food bank

Chet Valley Community Larder, based at Loddon Library on Church Plain, has issued an appeal after discovering its stock had been burgled.

The food bank saw two separate incidents last week, with CCTV footage being passed to the police for investigation.

In a statement, Loddon Town Council said: "This has been incredibly disheartening for both the council, and the volunteers who give their time and energy to keep the service running.

"The Community Larder exists to support those in need in our community.

"Taking from it in this way removes vital resources from some of the most vulnerable people who rely on this support.

"Our volunteers work extremely hard to make sure the larder remains stocked and available for those who genuinely need it, so incidents like this are deeply upsetting for everyone involved."

The community larder opened on September 1, 2022 and is run in partnership with Loddon Town Council, Chedgrave Parish Council and Chet Valley Churches Together.
