It’s served up that heady cocktail of elation, madness, badness, senseless, contrary and extraordinary that characterises navigating life in the UK and keeps us here.

Living anywhere else in the world would be dull in comparison. It’s bloomin’ brilliant.

Where else could five days deliver such a mix of pure joy and celebration, eccentricity, adrenaline, befuddlement, brokenness and hope?

Nowhere else could keep us on the edge of our seats and entertained by the unexpected, ridiculous and incredible.

And it’s all being delivered in morning to night sunshine.

But, in true British fashion, while we bask in the best summer we can remember, it’s too hot. Or, as they say in East Anglia,: “Is it hot enough for ya?”

Schools shut, transport infrastructure breaks, roads melt, events are cancelled and people constantly moan about the heat, buying expensive fans that lead to more moaning about their spinning smart meters.

These are the same people who love the heat we’re having “abroad” but not in this country.

They are happy to spend thousands of pounds a year on sun-seeking holidays because it is “a different heat on the continent.” It’s just not right to have the same temperatures here.

Contrary to the point of hilarity.
