Parkrun cancelled following death of teenage girl
The North Walsham parkrun team has decided to cancel this week's event after the body of the teenager was found in the town's Memorial Park yesterday (Thursday, February 12).
Emergency services were called to the park around 7am and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
Her next of kin has been informed and a spokeswoman for Norfolk Police said: "The death is not believed to be suspicious."
In a post online, the parkrun team said: "The North Walsham parkrun team have taken the decision to cancel this week's parkrun out of respect for recent events."
The route for the event on Saturdays includes laps of the North Walsham High School playing field and the Memorial Park.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing several police and ambulance vehicles in and around the park from around 8am. Officers had put up a cordon around some play equipment.
Many have paid tribute online and sent condolences to her family and friends. She is believed to be aged in her late teens.
Lucy Shires, councillor for North Walsham, said: "This is heart-breaking news for our community. My thoughts are with the family and friends of the young lady at the centre of this tragedy.
"I cannot begin to imagine the pain they are experiencing, and I know many people locally will be feeling shocked and deeply saddened.
"I would ask everyone to please allow the police the time and space to carry out their investigation without speculation. Sharing unverified information can cause additional distress to those who are grieving.
"As a community, we must look out for one another in the days ahead. If you are struggling, please speak to someone you trust or reach out for support."
St Nicholas Church and North Walsham Benefice said in a post: "We pray for this girl, her family and friends and for the emergency services and others who have been involved in these events today."
