Bid for new church car park in quaint Norfolk village to 'improve safety'

Plans have been submitted for a small parking area by All Saints Church in Thornage, near Holt, to North Norfolk District Council.

At the moment, there is only one space at the roadside designated for church-goers to use, with others parking around 200m away along a private track.

But as the track is unlit and uneven, members of the church council have said that this has become a "deterrent for an ageing congregation and for those with mobility challenges".

So it hopes to relocate parking closer to the Grade-II listed building, "improving safety and inclusivity for users by reducing reliance on a distant, unlit and uneven route".

The intention is to keep the area as natural as possible, with no lighting, fencing, signage or permanent structures, while providing spaces for up to 20 vehicles.
