An Iranian drone hit a fuel tank near Dubai International Airport on Monday morning, forcing the world's busiest airport for international passenger traffic to close.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and there were no injuries reported; however, many flights were cancelled in the aftermath.

The airport also had to briefly shut its airspace as the military said it was "responding to incoming missile and drone threats" around the city.
