Simon Dobbin, of Mildenhall, a Cambridge United supporter, was assaulted in Southend after a match in March 2015.

He sustained permanent brain damage in the attack and died five years later, on October 21, 2020, at the age of 48.

The men, aged 29 to 49 and all from Essex, appeared side by side in the dock at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

They are each charged with manslaughter.
