Holly Postle, prosecuting at Great Yarmouth Magistrates' Court, said: "Mr Findlay had contacted the emergency services on 999. He said he had assaulted his partner.

"Her two-year-old son was present."
The court heard how Findlay had been on holiday with his partner and their son on a holiday in Great Yarmouth.
An argument had developed between the couple in their chalet before it got out of hand.
Andrew Spence, mitigating, said: "Words were exchanged. Mr Findlay explained that she said some nasty things to him and he said some nasty things to her.
"She came to him. He believed he was about to be assaulted by her. He thrust out his arm and he did make contact with her.

"He accepts that he caused the injury to her face. The force used was excessive. His response was not reasonable and necessary.
"He is deeply sorry for what happened."
The court was told that Findlay, a worker for a private construction company, was smoking cannabis at the time of the incident, and has not used it since then.
Since the incident, Findlay has been apart from his partner and has been allowed contact to see his child through a third party.
The case has been transferred to Nottingham and Findlay will next appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on April 17 at 10am.
He has been granted conditional bail and must not contact the victim directly or indirectly.
