Relocation plans for village bowls club shelved again after cost concerns

The proposals would have seen six new homes built on a site currently used by Shipdham Bowls Club.

The club has been playing at the lawn overlooked by a pavilion on Fieldfare Loke since the 1990s.

But Shipdham Parish Council, which owns the site, is looking to sell the land to housing developers.

This would see the club relocated to another site at Bullock Park, which has been proposed under a separate application.

The plans were initially lodged in 2024, but were shelved so further technical details could be put together. 

Now, the most recent proposals have also been withdrawn after concerns were raised about the cost of nutrient neutrality.

An open letter published by the parish council said the charge of £240,000 meant it was "not fiscally sensible" to proceed.
