Former wartime evacuees to meet again at railway station they left from in 1940

Hosted by the Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership and the Lowestoft Central Project, it returns to the very location those evacuated departed from on June 2, 1940.

The reunion is for former evacuees and family members, allowing them the chance to reminisce about their experiences 86 years ago.

Back then more than 3,000 schoolchildren and teachers left Lowestoft on five trains on their way to Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire for the duration of the war.

Over 600 of those evacuated found safety in and around the High Peak town of Glossop, with the memories made and links formed between the two communities all........
