Partner calls for change after beloved teacher dies days after wedding plans began
Robert “Rob” Rowling died last August after developing sepsis caused by an infected dialysis line. He was 51.
At his inquest, his partner James Hewett said he hoped lessons from Mr Rowling's death could help protect others with complex health needs.

Mr Hewett said: “With Rob having been a teacher, I hope lessons are learned so others do not have to go through this.”
Mr Rowling, who spent his life caring for others as a teacher, St John Ambulance volunteer and devoted partner, had arranged to meet a celebrant with Mr Hewett, his partner of 16 years, to begin planning the wedding they had waited years to have.
Instead, Mr Hewett said his partner woke at their Swaffham home delirious and confused. Suspecting Mr Rowling had a serious infection, he called an ambulance.

Following the conclusion of an inquest into his death, Mr Hewett, 36, hopes Mr Rowling's legacy will extend beyond the classroom and the community he served by prompting a standardised national protocol for the care of immunocompromised patients.
“My aim throughout this has been to raise awareness over the concerns I have found,” Mr Hewett said.
“Rob was a teacher, and foremost to honour this, I want learning to come from this, so that others do not face the trauma and pain that we have been through and that, if anything comes from this loss, it is to protect others.
“That is who Rob is, and that is........
