Prime minister Keir Starmer has announced the government is to purchase the new F-35A jets in a mov that is "the biggest strengthening of the UK's nuclear posture in a generation".

It is understood that the fighter jets will be based at RAF Marham and the PM will announce the news at this week's Nato summit in The Hague in the Netherlands.
