The ATM was torn from the front of the Nationwide branch in New Market, Beccles, shortly before 3am on March 4, causing part of the building to collapse.

Police believe the cash machine was loaded into the back of a dark-coloured van, thought to be a Ford Transit.

The digger - which is believed to have been stolen from a farm in Ringsfield - was abandoned at the scene.

Police are yet to locate the van or the ram raiders who are still walking free.

The front of the building has been boarded up since the ATM was removed for repairs to be carried out.

Regarding the reopening, a spokeswoman for Nationwide said: “We are working hard to repair the branch as quickly as possible.

"We know how important our branches are to the local community.

"In the meantime, customers can visit one of our nearby branches for face-to-face service, such as in Lowestoft or Norwich.

"We recommend checking locations and opening hours on our website.”
