The former prince has been given £302,000 in compensation following the early termination of his lease on Royal Lodge in Windsor, which he returned to the Crown Estate more than 50 years ahead of schedule.

Under the terms of his agreement, Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was entitled to compensation because he surrendered the lease within the first 25 years.

He reportedly paid £1.8 million in repair and restoration costs as part of the lease handover.
