Wroxham Football Social Club has been included as a potential site for new homes after council officials, who need to hit government housing and employment land targets, launched a call for sites.

The latest submission for the Skinners Lane site covers more than four times the area suggested previously.  

Its entry on the list records a 7.76-hectare site put forward for housing within the report’s 10-to-49-home category.  

However, the listing is not a planning application and does not mean homes have been approved, allocated or are certain to be built.

The land includes or is associated with Trafford Park, the current home of Wroxham FC, owned by Michael Trafford.  

Wroxham FC own some of the land and the rest is on a long lease with Mr Trafford.

In 2016, land at Wroxham Football Club was submitted through the Greater Norwich Local Plan’s earlier Call for Sites process.  

That proposal covered 1.81 hectares and suggested about 20 homes.  

Planning documents said the earlier scheme depended on the football club, known as the Yachtsmen, finding a suitable new location.
