Much ado about something! £30m Shakespeare theatre revamp secures first donation
West Norfolk Council has announced an £800,000 grant from a German foundation towards the redevelopment of St George’s Guildhall in King’s Lynn.
The 1m euro investment from the Hermann Reemtsma Stiftung charity marks the first private contribution following the launch of the scheme in July last year.
The foundation is based in Hamburg which, like Lynn, was a key port in the Hanseatic League, a Medieval network of trading areas which still have modern cultural links.
