Green moves across the city amid fall-out with council colleague

Now, Norwich's Green Party has been hit by a rift of its own, with an apparent breakdown in the relationship between two of its leading councillors.

Ben Price and Ash Haynes both represent Thorpe Hamlet for the party on Norwich City Council.

However, for next month's elections, Mr Price is leaving Thorpe Hamlet - which he has represented for 14 years - to contest the Wensum ward on the other side of the city instead.

He will also contest the seat at the county council elections, having previously represented Thorpe Hamlet at County Hall as well.

Sources at City Hall have said his move follows a significant rupture in the relationship between the pair.

If Mr Price is elected, it would require him to spend less time with Ms Haynes than if they shared the same ward, where councillors are often required to work together on local issues.

In the past 20 months, the pair have only sat in the same council meeting on two occasions.

They have declined to comment on the apparent fall-out, with the party only referring to it as an "internal matter".
