Red Apple Run opened at Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft on Saturday, which marked the start of the park's first season under the new management of Premier Attractions Ltd.

Brothers Freddy, Spencer and Davis Stokes - who run the company - previously promised to add more rides to return it to its "former glory".

Often called Wacky Worms, Apple Coasters are small, steel coasters designed for families and children, often featuring a train modelled to resemble a green caterpillar.

The worm typically passes through a giant red apple during the ride.

Red Apple Run is similar to the Big Apple Coaster at Pleasure Beach on the Great Yarmouth seafront.

Two other new rides also opened at the park on Saturday, with a third one coming soon.

A Star Flyer, a towering, high-speed swing ride that hurls riders around in the air, has been built near Wipeout, the park's Vekoma boomerang rollercoaster.

To fit in with the neighbouring ride's surfing theme, the Star Flyer has been named Riptide.

A giant, 118ft observation wheel also opened over the weekend, and has been named Woody's Wheel, after theme park mascot Woody Bear.

A Spinning Coaster - commonly referred to as a Magic Mouse - is expected to open at the park this year, but has not yet arrived.

Ride vehicles will spin while guests traverse the track, giving them the thrill of both going around tight corners and down ramps, all while simultaneously moving in a circle.

Premier Attractions owns and operates rides across the UK and Asia.

The company’s three directors, the Stokes brothers, come from a long line of travelling showmen.

After COVID, the company even operated rides at Alton Towers to help make social distancing measures easier.
