B&M served its first customers in its new branch in Mere Street in Diss on Saturday morning.

The discount store submitted a licensing application to South Norfolk Council for the premises in October.

It was most recently home to an Aldi store, which has since moved to Park Road.

But in years past, the building previously housed a Co-op and a Somerfield.

Before reopening as B&M, the unit underwent a "comprehensive internal and external renovation programme".

Shoppers can now enjoy 11,821 sqft of sales space, filled with discounted items from homeware to toys.

The launch of the new store has also created 30 jobs.

The manager of the new store said: "We’re feeling extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store."

Cllr John Robertson, leader of Diss Town Council, previously said it is "great that a national chain is investing in a new store in our lovely market town".
