Road closures in place as £300,000 project nears completion
The installation of a new puffin crossing and the replacement of existing traffic lights at the junction of Unthank Road and Christchurch Road could be completed next week.
Norfolk County Council, who are behind the three-month-long project, said the work is in response to concerns over the number of accidents in the area.
To allow the building contractors, Tarmac, to finish on time, the council has temporarily shut both roads.
A Norfolk County Council spokesman said: "We will be starting the surfacing this Wednesday to Friday with the full closure of both roads.

"Once this is complete, the road will be closed at the junction over the weekend and temporary lights will be installed again.
"We will then complete two additional days of full closures and surfacing next Monday and Tuesday to complete the road marking, outstanding surfacing and installation of the speed humps.
"The road closures are required to conduct the works safely and efficiently for both the public and our operatives.
"The scheme is on track to finish slightly ahead of the original stated schedule, weather and other factors permitting, hopefully by the end of next week."
Signs on-site warn drivers of road closures in the area and local businesses have been notified.

Both sides of the junction were shut, and temporary two-way traffic lights were installed on Unthank Road on January 12.
The filter lanes for cyclists in Christchurch Road will be widened as part of the project.
Norfolk County Council revealed that there had been a total of five personal injury collisions recorded at this location, looking at three years of accident data, to the end of June 2025.
