Here are some of the top spots to see the blooms as tulip season begins.

Tulips for Tapping returns this April in support of Tapping House hospice care for the sixth year.

The event welcomes the public to wander through the fields near King’s Lynn, where more than nine million tulip bulbs are planted.

It is one of the biggest displays in the country and featured in blockbuster movies Wicked and Wicked: For Good, making it an increasingly popular destination for fans of the flower and the films alike.

Price: Prices £12 online, £14 on the gate

Houghton Hall in Norfolk is hosting Tulips at Houghton, a showcase of 25,000 tulip bulbs in its five-acre walled garden.

Launching this month, visitors will be invited to explore avenues of blossom, early-flowering plants and garden rooms filled with colour.

Where: Blickling Estate, Blickling, Norwich, NR11 6NF

In March and April, the Walled Garden at the Blickling Estate bursts with colour from around 3,500 tulips, planted each autumn.

Varieties such as 'Rebellion', 'Lipstick', 'Perfect Wedding' and 'Tiramisu' are in flower now.

Tulips at Wretham Lodge

Where: Wretham Lodge, East Wretham, Norfolk, IP24 1RL

Wretham Lodge has a 10-acre garden surrounding a former Georgian rectory.

In spring, masses of species tulips, hellebores, fritillaries, daffodils and narcissi bloom.

There is a bluebell walk and a small woodland walk.

Where: East Ruston Old Vicarage, Vicarage Rd, NR12 9HN

The Dutch Garden is on the western end of the East Ruston Old Vicarage building and a stunning display of tulips can be found in this secluded garden.

The house and gardens can be found between Honing and Happisburgh and was crowned the best garden to visit in the UK this spring.

The title comes from a study conducted by leisure experts at the outdoor furniture outlet, White Stores.
