'Charming' goldendoodle rescued from 'welfare situation' looking for forever home

Winston is an eight-year-old pooch at Snetterton's Dogs Trust centre who is searching for his forever home.

The charity rescued Winston from a "welfare hoarding situation," which is when a large number of dogs are kept in too small a space, compromising their nutrition, sanitation and veterinary care.

"Having had a sheltered upbringing, Winston has lived with multiple other dogs but hasn't been socialised with dogs outside the home," a spokesman for Dogs Trust explained.

"He may exhibit barking and lunging when encountering unfamiliar dogs, so careful and gradual socialisation is necessary, ideally keeping him on a lead in public spaces."

However, Winston has a lot of love to give his new family.

"He is a friendly and affectionate lad, making him great with children aged eight and older, given his background and at times bouncy nature," the spokesman said.

"Although he didn't have regular walks in his previous home, he's eager to explore the outdoors, though he finds passing cars a bit overwhelming and may attempt to chase them.

"Our behaviour team will provide guidance to manage this."

Due to the nature of his rescue, Winston will need a patient family that is willing to introduce him to the world at his own pace.

He needs ongoing support for housetraining and would thrive in a home where someone is around initially, as he adjusts to being alone.

A garden would be beneficial for him as he gets used to walks and settles into his new environment.

"With time, patience, and love, Winston has the potential to become a wonderful, loyal companion," the Dogs Trust spokesman added.
