Family raise concerns after woman left bedbound following hallucination tragedy

Marie Powley, of St Roberts Way in Belton, near Great Yarmouth, passed away at her home in February after being placed on palliative care. 

In a statement made to an officer at Norfolk Coroner’s Court, her daughter-in-law, Jayne Powley, described a marked deterioration in Mrs Powley’s condition following the death of her husband, Patrick. 

“After this, she became increasingly fragile and started to experience falls. She had several falls at home,” she said.

In November alone, Mrs Powley – a retired shop owner who had been born in Yarmouth – suffered four falls within a two-week period, leading to multiple hospital admissions to the James Paget (JPH) in Gorleston.
