Daniel Candon has been handed the role to articulate the party's policies amid speculation prime minister Andy Burnham will call a snap election

Mr Candon has lived in Great Yarmouth for more than 40 years, having worked locally in the offshore sector for 15 years.

He has served as chief of staff to two MPs and currently represents the ward of Bradwell North at Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
