Inspector Helen Heward has dismissed an appeal by owner Mary Carberry to demolish Shaun’s Family Butchers at 17 Northgate Street and clear the site.

The decision followed a devastating blaze in June 2024 which gutted the building and saw firefighters rescue a man and 10 dogs from an upstairs flat.

Ms Carberry had gone to the planning inspectorate after Great Yarmouth Borough Council failed to determine her listed building consent application within the statutory time limit.
