Reform UK, which looks to be in pole position to run Norfolk County Council, has said it wants to stop local government reorganisation, but the former Conservative administration said it had already started the steps to do that.

On Friday, the council, currently under no overall control, sent a pre-action legal letter - signed by its lawyers - Kat Hulatt - to local government secretary Steve Reed, ahead of potential High Court action.

The Labour government plans to scrap all eight of Norfolk's councils and replace them with three new ones - Greater Norwich City Council, East Norfolk Council and West Norfolk Council.
