Reform UK sets sights on Norfolk County Council's net zero spending
The party has taken aim at Norfolk County Council’s environmental commitments with its first motion since becoming the authority’s biggest political group at this month’s elections.
The 40-strong group is calling for a review of council spending linked to net zero and a pledge that future climate-related expenditure should demonstrate “measurable benefit” and “value for money”.

Reform councillor Nick Taylor, who represents Hellesdon, said the backdrop to the motion - to be discussed on Thursday, May 28 - was the authority's near £900m debt at a time when costs of services like adult social care and children's services outstrip government funding.
He said: "We are suggesting the council cannot afford to be doing things that do not satisfy the council's mandate of providing best value.
"On net zero, we are proposing a review of all of those initiatives to find out the cost benefits of those."
One of the biggest schemes which would come under the spotlight is the authority's £83m initiative - agreed under the previous Conservative administration - to make its properties more energy efficient and cut carbon emissions.
