And a new exhibition at the Time and Tide Museum explores Yarmouth's long history of the activity, through the lens of a photographer who knows her subject extremely well.

The Art of Roller Skating features more than 40 works by photographer Debby Besford, who grew up in Great Yarmouth and was herself an artistic roller skater.

She travelled all over the country to competitions when she was involved in the sport, before becoming a national skating judge and then an award-winning artist and documentary photographer.

She has photographed seven young female champion artistic roller skaters over the last 10 years, charting their progress in still images and slow-motion videos which capture them rotating in mid-air at 200 frames per second as they pursue "the perfect jump".
