Driver caught doing 101mph through 40mph A47 roadworks

The driver was recorded doing 101mph by average speed check cameras at Blofield, where the road was being widened to create a dual carriageway.

Traffic past the roadworks was restricted to a narrow single lane lined by cones and barriers.

It is one of a number of 40mph zones on the A47 and A11 around Norwich which have been in place since 2025 to allow three major road upgrades to take place.

As well as the dualling near Blofield, the others are near Honingham and at Thickthorn.

The 101mph driver was one of more than 1,900 motorists who have been caught speeding through the roadworks, according to new figures obtained from Norfolk Constabulary under the Freedom of Information Act.

Other cases involved a motorist doing 83mph in a 40mph area on the A11 near Ketteringham and 74mph on the same road near Hethersett.

The temporary speed restrictions have been in place on the A47 between Blofield and North Burlingham, and North Tuddenham and Easton, to allow them to be dualled, and on the A11 and A47 near Thickthorn, while the interchange is being........
