West Norfolk councillors refused proposals for 31 new homes beside the main A149 coast road when they met on Monday despite an officer's recommendation to approve them.

Developer Pigeon's plans for the site at Snettisham, between King's Lynn and Hunstanton, were "called in" by former local councillor Stuart Dark, before he stood down in June.

Mr Dark told councillors he had referred the development to the planning committee because there were "significant concerns" in the community and "key unanswered questions" about it.
