Fears of landslides at erosion-threatened village as Storm Benjamin strikes
Heavy rain and winds of up to 70mph have been pummelling the shores across Norfolk, but at Hemsby, concerns about the storm's impact are rife as the village has lost around 300m of its coast since the 1970s.
Power cuts, localised flooding, building damage, and travel disruptions are possible across the nation during the storm, according to the Met Office.
James Bensly, borough councillor and beach cafe owner in the village, fears possible landslides at the Dunes in Hemsby which are in a perilous situation as it is, could occur when the storm settles.
He said: "The beach yesterday (Wednesday) was healthy, especially to the north, so we’ll have to wait and see.
