But it is not these structures which are causing most alarm in Great Moulton.

The village might lie on the fringe of the sprawling East Pye site but is absolutely central to the scheme.

For it is here where the developer plans to create a massive battery site to store energy produced by the panels and transfer it to the National Grid via a nearby pylon route.

Three new substations could be built in the village, one of which is due to be almost 50ft high.

In addition, up to 1,000 battery storage containers, each measuring 11ft tall, will be installed under the plans.

And the village will have its fair share of panels too, with several fields on its edge due to be covered with them.

The East Pye developers have designated the area around Great Moulton that they want to cover in panels, substations and batteries as ‘Site One’.

In total, Site One is four times the size of the village itself.

Locals are furious about the proposals and desperate to stop the scheme.

They say the threat of becoming ‘Solar Central’ has already collapsed the local housing market, with a number of homes unsold for more than a year.
