Beccles kitchen and Suffolk chef win big at Food & Drink Awards
Here, we find out more about the winners of Field to Fork, sponsored by Hotel School at City College Norwich, and Chef of the Year, sponsored by Sizewell C.
And the winner is… The Farmhouse Kitchen and Pantry, Beccles, Norfolk
The idea for The Farmhouse Kitchen came after the Burroughs family opened its on-site farm shop, The Pantry, and saw first-hand how much people value locally produced, high-quality food.
They turned an old, unused farm building into a relaxed space where people could come together to enjoy homegrown food made with care.
Many of the dishes’ ingredients are produced on the farm, helping the business create more value from its produce and reconnecting people with where their food comes from.
The judges said they were “impressed with the welcome, warmth from the staff and layout of the building” from the moment they walked into The Farmhouse.
They also praised the collaboration with Norfolk and Suffolk suppliers, adding that The Farmhouse is “educating a range of people and families to understand where food comes from”.
