Danish firm to supply 92 turbines for one of world's largest wind farms off Norfolk
Vestas, one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers, will supply, deliver and commission the machines for German energy company RWE’s Vanguard West offshore wind farm.
Once operational in 2029, the wind farm - located around 28 miles (45km) off the coast of Norfolk - will generate enough electricity to power around 1.5 million UK homes.

It is one of three wind farm projects making up RWE’s Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone.
Construction of an onshore underground cable route for the wind farms began in 2023.
It comes ashore at Happisburgh and will connect to the National Grid at Necton.
Earlier this year, the government handed RWE subsidy contracts for 3.1 gigawatts (GW) of capacity for its Vanguard East and West wind farms – more than a third of the 8.4 GW allocation awarded to UK developers.

Sven Utermöhlen, CEO of RWE offshore wind, said: “Following RWE’s success in Allocation Round 7 and our joint partnering with KKR, this turbine supply agreement marks a further important step towards delivering the Vanguard West project.
“Given RWE’s significant offshore experience, we are delighted to be partnering with Vestas, who have extensive expertise in turbine manufacture and delivery.”
Nils de Baar, president of Vestas northern and central Europe and global offshore, added: “The momentum behind offshore wind in Europe is building with the UK government stepping up its commitment in AR7 and projects like Norfolk Vanguard West moving forward.
“This combination of industry partnership and government commitment sends a powerful signal about the UK’s determination to drive forward its renewable energy ambitions.
“We are delighted to collaborate with RWE on the Norfolk Vanguard West project. The project strengthens the UK’s long-term energy security goals and helps the consumer with lower energy prices.”
