She could have had a career, learned to drive, fallen in love, fallen out of love, she could have travelled. She would have celebrated her 18th birthday with her family, then her 21st, her 30th, her 40th.

By now, she might have been a mother herself, worrying about her own children getting home after dark.

But Victoria didn’t lose her life to cancer or some horrendous accident. She had it snatched away from her because of one man, who sat there in the dock at the Old Bailey on Friday with everyone staring at him.
