'I cannot emphasise how bad that game was' - but Gulls get the points

Every Wednesday in the Herald Express, our Torquay United correspondent Richard Hughes takes a sideways look at what's going on in the world of the Gulls. This week, he looks at Dorking manager/chairman Marc White's reaction after they lost to the Gulls on Saturday.

I am not sure which side of the bed Marc White got out of on Saturday morning, or whether he has always been such a bad loser, but the Dorking Wanderers chairman/manager wasn’t the happiest of bunnies at the end of his team’s 1-0 defeat by the marvellous Torquay United on Saturday.

White, who formed his club in 1999 and guided them through about 12,000 promotions to get from the very bottom of some Kent League to the National League last season, is what you might call a ‘character’. His is the kind of story that might have found its readership in the pages of Boys’ Own or Roy of the Rovers in a previous time.

But, sitting comfortably in this new and strange world of fake news and post truths, White was adamant that the game between Dorking and Torquay was one of the worst he has ever seen!........
