FINANCE Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has once more reviewed the latest incentive scheme to bring retailers into the tax net — and again, the meeting last week took place against disappointing results. Mr Aurangzeb says that the retailers’ tax scheme should not be seen as a one-year arrangement. That is an admission in itself. A simplified route, offered on easy terms, has not persuaded the sector to join, and the government is now preparing for a long wait. This is not the first attempt. Tajir Dost drew only about 58,000 registrations, according to reports, and was said to be falling short of its revenue........
