Tom Kean Jr. Suddenly Reappears As If Nothing Happened

Tom Kean Jr., the Republican representative who has been absent from Washington, D.C., and his district since March, was seen by reporters for the first time in months ahead of his planned return to the U.S. Capitol.

The New York Times reports that Kean was spotted at his home on Wednesday evening in Westfield, New Jersey. The outlet has documented its previous attempts to reach the representative at his house, receiving no answer. According to the report, a Times reporter rang the doorbell and spoke briefly to Kean who answered. “It’s good to see you,” he told the reporter. “I’ll talk to you next week. Thank you.” The representative, who was also accompanied by his wife, Rhonda Kean, reportedly declined to give any further comment.

Kean’s sighting is the latest indicator that the two-term representative is ramping up toward a return after an extensive monthslong absence from the nation’s capital.
