Munitions Shortage Has Trump Up in Arms Against Hegseth and ‘Leakers’
As the United States’ war in Iran continues into its sixth month amid fitful peace talks, President Donald Trump is forcefully denying reports that the nation’s supply of munitions is dwindling — while also reportedly lashing out at Defense secretary Pete Hegseth over those same shortages.
In a wee-hours post on TruthSocial, the president cried out about the mounting reports that the U.S. military is experiencing shortages of key munitions and threatened to retaliate against the sources of those reports. “The U.S. has massive amounts of ‘munitions,’ especially of certain types. Additionally, large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the U.S. as needed. Defense companies are building the largest number of plants and factories in our country’s history,” Trump wrote. “The ‘leakers’ of these treasonous statements are being hunted down. Long term jail sentences will be sought!”
But the Washington Post reports the president has been well aware of the shortages and went after Hegseth at Camp David last week over the problem,........
