A man threatened police with a blade and a hammer after calling them to his Newcastle home.
Joseph Pullin dialled 999 following an argument with his partner but became aggressive once officers arrived. A court heard that the 36-year-old came out of his flat and threatened the constables with the two weapons before going back in.
He was finally persuaded to drop the knife and hammer before being arrested. Pullin, of Holywell Close, in Newcastle City Centre, has now been given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, after he pleaded guilty of two counts of threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a private place.
