Newcastle's West End is bracing for a parking clampdown by council chiefs, aimed at drivers exploiting residential streets to dodge city centre parking fees. Anew scheme covering 15 streets around Arthur's Hill will stop commuters from parking their cars outside residences during daytime hours. Newcastle City Council has noted that the area has become a popular spot for commuter parking. The council is now considering implementing a residents parking permit scheme, primarily targeting roads flanking Stanhope Street.
