Newcastle United taking plunge at £60m Joao Pedro makes sense as Brazilian gives transfer verdict

Joao Pedro is open to answering Newcastle United's call to bolster Eddie Howe's Champions League-bound attack - but only if the two clubs can agree on a price.

Those close to the star say he'd be up for a move to Newcastle but that's not the hard part. The deal will boil down to his fee and Brighton's fierce negotiation tactics on moving stars on given they aren't fussy about being branded a "selling club".

Brighton & Hove Albion want £60m for Pedro, with the 23-year-old scoring 10 times last season and serving up seven assists. Pedro has 22 Premier League goals to his name and 10 assists in just 89 games.

And while he would command a fee that is up there with Bryan Mbeumo's Brentford exit this summer, the difference will be his wage demands. He currently earns around £50,000 a week but would not be a buy that will break Newcastle's wage structure and if his agent can play his cards right, his client could be deemed as United's big money buy this season.

Pedro was keen to join Eddie Howe and Newcastle in 2022 before he ended up staying at Watford and waiting for his move to Brighton.........
