Overreaction Monday: 5 hot takes from Week 17
Welcome to Overreaction Monday where we look back on the previous week’s action and root out some angles that could be prone to hot takes that may or may not be a tad over the top. Either from fans and the media in general or, maybe just specifically me.
Then, I’ll render a verdict as to whether I think it’s an “overreaction”, a “fair” assessment, or if it’s “too soon to tell.”
This week: A re-assessment of an earlier take. The Argos aren’t just for offence anymore. And do not be fooled by the cuteness.

In the Week 12 version of Overreaction Monday, I mused about whether Edmonton kicker Vincent Blanchard had emerged as the league’s new money-man when it came to placekicking. He’d just knocked through a 40-yarder as time expired to give the Elks a win over Winnipeg, a few weeks after nailing a 57-yarder to push Edmonton to a win over Saskatchewan.
The verdict then was “overreaction.”
But I also pointed out that there was a “decent chance” that could change before season’s end.
“A placekicker is going to be one of the Players of the Week and that placekicker is Vincent Blanchard, the new King of all Super-Toes.”
Nine-for-nine in field goaling.
He hit. Every. Single. One.
And a convert, to boot. Vincent Blanchard accounted for 28 of his team’s 37 points in a game they won by two.
Not only do I feel certain that Blanchard is going........
