I can only wonder is this a midterm strategy to win over independents? Surprising to say the least to hear this pro-enforcement sheriff make a sudden exception for people here illegally who don't commit crime outside of unauthorized entry, which is crime enough.

The 'cheap labor lobby' funding GOP office holders and office seekers locally, state-wide and federally hates the idea of paying citizens decent wages. So much so that they work behind the scenes undermining deportation operations. Just in time, it bears noting, for midterm congressional elections in a state with a sizeable Latino electorate.

I've enjoyed Sheriff Judd's public persona over the years. But I like my community not becoming a super-minority elbowed aside by migrants getting the red carpet treatment. The truth I keep stating is the carpet is not just rolled out by Democrats like 'AOC' in Congress. Joining them from the right are Republicans, including this Polk County, Florida sheriff.
